Shem H. University’s School of Agricultural & Animal Sciences has announced an expansion of its supervised field research program, giving undergraduate students additional opportunities to participate in structured animal care, field observation, and applied lab preparation through the Sable Ridge Animal Research Center.
The expanded program is designed for students pursuing animal science, applied biological systems, veterinary preparation, and related areas of study. Students will work under faculty supervision while assisting with documentation, habitat observation, nutrition studies, care-system review, and research-site preparation.
University officials said the expansion reflects SHU’s larger academic model: classroom instruction tied directly to practical research environments. Students entering the program will be expected to complete safety training, field-readiness instruction, and supervised research orientation before joining active assignments.
The Sable Ridge Animal Research Center will also increase placement opportunities for lab assistants, graduate mentors, and faculty-led field teams. Additional program details will be released before the next academic term.
